Vietnam - India Friendship Association of Hanoi cooperates to organize the Vesak Day Celebration

On May 12, at Yen Phu Pagoda (Lien Ninh Commune, Thanh Tri District), the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, the Vietnam - India Friendship Association of Hanoi, and the Indian Embassy jointly held the Vesak Day ceremony in 2024.

The event saw the presence of Most Venerable Thich Hai An, Rector of the Vietnam Buddhist Academy in Hue; Most Venerable Thich Tho Lac, Head of the Central Cultural Committee of the Sangha; and Mr. Subhash Prasad Gupta, Deputy Ambassador of India to Vietnam. Additionally, representatives from various organizations including the Hanoi Union Office, Government Religious Committee, Thanh Tri District, Lien Ninh Commune, Executive Board, Branches, Member Clubs, and numerous Buddhists participated in the event.

 

Most Venerable Thich Tho Lac delivered the opening speech and read the Vesak Day Message 2024 (Buddhist calendar 2568) from the Supreme Patriarch of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha.

 

During the event, Deputy Ambassador Subhash Prasad Gupta affirmed the longstanding relationship between Vietnam and India. He emphasized that Buddhism essentially serves as a cultural bridge between the two countries. He hoped that the messages and fundamental teachings of Buddhism would further spread, guiding the people of both nations towards positive values, contributing to connecting their people and enhancing the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and India.

 

 

The ceremony took place in a solemn and respectful atmosphere, with delegates and Buddhists praying together for favorable conditions and harmony, welcoming Vesak Day in peace and prosperity.
