Vietnam-India Cultural Exchange

On the afternoon of January 5th, in Hanoi, the Vietnam-India Friendship Association of Hanoi and the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Center in Hanoi collaborated to organize a Vietnam-India cultural exchange program to commemorate the 52nd anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

Speaking at the program, Mrs. Phan Lan Tu, Chairwoman of the Vietnam-India Friendship Association of Hanoi, expressed hope that through artistic performances showcasing the distinct ethnic characteristics. People of both countries would gain a deeper understanding of each other's cultures, customs, and traditions.

 

Deputy Ambassador of India to Vietnam, Subhash Gupta, mentioned some cultural similarities, customs, and traditions between the two countries, such as the cultural significance of rice, animal worship, ancestor worship, cosmology, and the concept of the universe, emphasizing the importance of buffalo and rice in material culture and rituals between the two sides. She emphasized the importance of Vietnam in India's Look East Policy and prioritized strengthening cultural ties with Vietnam.

 

 

Particularly, the program featured traditional Vietnamese artistic performances such as ca tru singing, Khmer ethnic dance, etc., by members of the Vietnam-India Friendship Branches, and the classical Indian Kathak dance - one of the eight classical forms of Indian dance. The program concluded with a screening of the Indian movie "Neerja."

 

The program contributed to creating a joyful and exciting atmosphere to welcome the Lunar New Year of the Dragon and spread the beauty of Vietnam-India cultural exchange.
