MEMBER ORGANIZATION'S ACTIVITIES
On the morning of September 14, at the Tay Ho District Political Center, the Vietnam - Hungary Friendship Association of Hanoi held its 5th Congress for the 2024 - 2029 term with more than 100 official delegates and guests in attendance.
The Congress was attended by the Hungarian Ambassador to Vietnam, leaders of the Central Vietnam - Hungary Friendship Association, the HAUFO, Tay Ho District, Son Tay Town, and representatives from various departments and sectors of the city.
The Congress reviewed the activity report of the 4th term (2019 - 2024) and outlined the direction for the 5th term (2024 - 2029), also approving the revised statues. Over the past five years, the Association closely followed the guidelines of the City Party Committee, the Hanoi People’s Committee, the HAUFO, and the Central Vietnam - Hungary Friendship Association. With a proactive, innovative, and responsible spirit, it thoroughly implemented the resolutions of the 4th Congress.
The Association and its sub-branches effectively carried out people-to-people foreign relations, maintained close ties with the Hungarian Embassy, and contributed to the overall foreign affairs of the city. This helped foster mutual understanding between the peoples of Hanoi and Budapest, promoting the image of Hanoi as an age-old, peaceful, dynamically developing, and globally integrated capital. The Association fulfilled its role and participated enthusiastically in peace and friendship activities organized by the HAUFO and the Central Association. It excelled in foreign affairs protocol and upheld the City’s public diplomacy policies. Moreover, it strengthened friendship cooperation with partners in Budapest and other Hungarian cities, leveraging support from overseas Vietnamese in Hungary for the socio-economic development of the capital and the country.
In his speech at the Congress, Mr. Baloghdi Tibor, Hungarian Ambassador to Vietnam, especially appreciated the members who, despite not studying in Hungary, have activities closely linked to Vietnam - Hungary relations. These members have made significant contributions to the friendship and multifaceted relations between the two countries.
Emphasizing the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2025, with various cultural programs planned, the Ambassador expressed confidence that the new leadership and members will actively participate in these events, contributing to their success and further enhancing mutual understanding between the peoples of Hungary and Vietnam.
At the Congress, Mr. Nguyễn Nam Hải, Vice Chairman of the HAUFO, highlighted the Association’s contributions to the overall people’s diplomacy achievements of Hanoi during the 2019-2024 term. He also commended the highly responsible organization of the Congress by the Executive Committee of the 4th term. On this occasion, he congratulated the individuals and groups awarded for their outstanding achievements.
After a very serious and democratic working session, the Congress successfully concluded. It unanimously approved a new Executive Committee comprising 35 members, including 28 elected at the Congress (with 7 to be supplemented during the term). The first meeting of the Executive Committee elected the Standing Committee and key positions for the 5th term, 2024 - 2029, consisting of 11 Standing Committee members (1 President, 4 Vice Presidents, 1 General Secretary). Mr. Đặng Vũ Nhật Thăng was re-elected as President of the Association for the 2024 – 2029 term.
