On July 4, the Hanoi Union of Friendship Organizations held a conference to review the first half of the year and outline goals for the latter half of 2024. Attendees included Trieu Thi Ngoc, Deputy Head of the City Party Committee’s Organization Department, Nguyen Ngoc Ky, Chairman of the Hanoi Union, and representatives from affiliated friendship associations and media.

Tran Thi Phuong, HAUFO’s Standing Vice Chairwoman, summarized the first six months and set out five key objectives for the remainder of 2024. These objectives include planning, policy development, administrative organization, peace and cooperation activities, celebrations of major holidays, external information dissemination, research, forecasting, and policy development related to the revised Capital Law. Additionally, efforts will focus on establishing a resolution for people-to-people diplomacy in Hanoi through 2030, with a vision to 2045, and organizing member association congresses.

Highlighted initiatives include the Hanoi Lotus Festival 2024, the 49th annual Hanoimoi Newspaper Run for Peace, and the Harmony of Peace and Friendship Festival. External information efforts will enhance the HAUFO’s digital presence, implement virtual conferencing, and promote people-to-people diplomacy outcomes.

Three presentations and four contributions from member associations emphasized the importance of comprehensive, flexible people-to-people diplomacy.

In his closing remarks, Chairman Nguyen Ngoc Ky endorsed the feedback and stressed enhancing communication about people-to-people diplomacy efforts. He emphasized the importance of promoting the revised Capital Law, specifically Clause 2, Article 52, strengthening organizational development, and engaging NGOs in charity and humanitarian activities to achieve the goals for the latter half of 2024.
