HAUFO ACTIVITIES
On the morning of January 18, in Hanoi, the Hanoi Union of Friendship Organizations held a conference to summarize the people's foreign affairs work in 2023 and deploy tasks in 2024.
The conference was attended by Mr. Ngo Le Van, Deputy Head of the Central Foreign Affairs Committee; Mr. Phan Anh Son, President of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations; Mr. Nguyen Manh Quyen, Member of the Hanoi Party Committee, Deputy Chairman of the People's Committee of Hanoi along with representatives from Departments, Committees, Industries, Districts, Towns, comrades in the Executive Committee of the HAUFO and the Standing Committee of Member Associations.
In his opening speech at the conference, Chairman of the HAUFO Nguyen Ngoc Ky emphasized that amid many intertwined opportunities and challenges, the HAUFO has implemented tasks assigned with the motto "proactive, flexible, creative, and effective". People's foreign affairs activities increasingly attract a wide range of people in the Capital and international friends to participate. 2023 was also a year marked by the implementation and realization of Party resolutions, especially the implementation of Resolution No. 15-NQ/TW dated May 15, 2022 of the Politburo on the direction and tasks for Hanoi's development until 2030, vision to 2045 with the content "Enhancing people's foreign affairs".
On behalf of the Executive Committee, Mrs. Tran Thi Phuong, Standing Vice Chairwoman of the HAUFO, has deployed tasks for 2024 including 8 directions and 11 tasks covering all its activities.
In his speech at the conference, Mr. Phan Anh Son suggested that the HAUFO should specifically focus on implementing the directions for 2024, intensify propaganda work, mobilize overseas Vietnamese, non-governmental mobilization and training activities, enhance capacity building for officials working in people's foreign affairs, etc.
Mr. Nguyen Manh Quyen praised the achievements of the HAUFO in the past year. At the same time, in 2024, he suggested it should consolidate the organization of the union, enhance the activities of Member Associations, making people's foreign affairs work worthy to be one of the three pillars of modern diplomacy.
At the conference, the VUFO awarded certificates of merit to 01 unit and 01 individual. The Hanoi People's Committee awarded certificates of merit to 11 units, 03 individuals. And the HAUFO awarded Certificates of Commendation to 13 units, 26 individuals because of their outstanding achievements in 2023.
