Enhancing Cooperation Between Hanoi and Chinese Localities

As a locality having foreign relations with over 100 capitals and major cities worldwide, Hanoi values the development of friendly and cooperative relations with Chinese localities, such as Beijing, Shaanxi, Xi'an City, Guangdong, and Guangzhou City. This strengthens the comprehensive strategic partnership and builds a Community of Shared Future between Vietnam and China.

Hanoi-Beijing: Sharing Cooperation Experience

 

On the 30th anniversary of establishing official friendship relations between Hanoi and Beijing, a high-level delegation of Hanoi led by Hanoi’s Deputy Party Secretary Nguyen Van Phong visited Beijing on May 16. During the meeting with Liu Wei, Deputy Secretary of the Beijing Party Committee, Nguyen Van Phong expressed gratitude for Beijing's support in training Hanoi’s reserve cadres for 2025-2030. He appreciated the strong relationship between Vietnam and China, particularly between Hanoi and Beijing, and shared information on Hanoi's socio-economic development in face of current global challenges.

 

 

The visit aimed to implement the agreements reached in September 2023 between Hanoi Party Secretary Dinh Tien Dung and Beijing Party Secretary Yin Li, continuing and expanding professional cooperation. Liu Wei supported Nguyen Van Phong's proposals, suggesting enhanced party-to-party cooperation, city governance, and economic and digital collaboration. Both sides agreed to continue efforts, making Hanoi-Beijing relations a model for local-level cooperation between Vietnam and China.

 

 

Hanoi Values Cooperation with Guangdong Province and Guangzhou City

 

During talks with Guangdong Provincial Party Committee leaders, Deputy Party Secretary Nguyen Van Phong highlighted Hanoi's rapid urban development and its potential for cooperation in urban management and construction. He welcomed and encouraged Guangdong's enterprises to make strong investments, especially in terms of technology, in Hanoi and Vietnam in general.

 

At the meeting's conclusion, Yuan Guxie, a Standing Committee member and Secretary of the Political and Legal Affairs Committee, expressed a desire for more practical and effective cooperation between Hanoi and Guangdong Province, Guangzhou City. He believed that under the leadership of Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, Hanoi and Vietnam would remain politically stable and economically strong.

 

 

Graduation of Cadre- Training Courses

 

The high-level delegation of Hanoi attended the graduation ceremony of two training courses for the Hanoi Party Committee's reserve cadres for the 2025-2030 term at the Beijing Party School and South China University of Technology (Guangzhou). These courses, organized under the cooperation agreement between the Hanoi Party Committee’s Organizational Department and the two schools, coincided with the delegation’s visit to China to strengthen friendly relations with Chinese localities.

 

Leaders from both sides warmly congratulated the trainees, reflecting Beijing and Guangdong's trust in Hanoi. During the visit, the delegation also visited the Vietnamese Embassy, attended the "Sustainable Friendship" art performance, and the "Thang Long - Convergence of Quintessence" photo exhibition in commemoration of  the 30th anniversary of Hanoi-Beijing friendship. They participated in the opening ceremony of the "Thang Long - Hanoi: Connecting and Converging Heritage" exhibition and the "Beijing - Hanoi: Connecting and Promoting Heritage Values" seminar at the Summer Palace.

 

Shaanxi - A Locality with Rich Cultural and Historical Traditions in China

During the visit, the high-level delegation of Hanoi also had a working meeting with the Shaanxi Provincial Party Committee and Xi'an City. Deputy Party Secretary Nguyen Van Phong emphasized the promotion of the cooperation between the two localities, especially in culture, as both possess rich and diverse cultural legacies. Sharing experiences in exploiting this heritage holds significant practical value.

 

Nguyen Van Phong invited leaders from Beijing, Shaanxi, Xi'an, Guangdong, and Guangzhou to visit Hanoi in October 2024 for the 70th anniversary of Hanoi's Liberation Day. The hosts expressed gratitude and the intention to respond to the invitation soon.

 

The visit led by Hanoi’s Deputy Party Secretary Nguyen Van Phong ended with big success, deepening Hanoi's cooperative relations with Chinese localities and elevating the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and China.
