FOREIGN AFFAIR
The relationship between Vietnam and Cuba is a special, loyal, and unique one in international relations. The shared ideals of a revolutionary struggle for national independence and freedom have created empathy and understanding between the two peoples throughout more than 60 years of ups and downs.
The comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Cuba has been ceaselessly strengthened and developed vigorously in all areas. The political relationship is becoming increasingly close and mutually trusting. High-level leaders from both sides maintain regular visits and exchanges. The relationship is deepening across all three channels: Party diplomacy, state diplomacy, and people-to-people diplomacy.
The working session between two sides
Accordingly, the friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Hanoi and La Habana have been constantly promoted and developed in all fields. Now, both cities are facing new opportunities and challenges.
At the invitation of Mr. Dinh Tien Dung, Member of the Politburo, Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee, the First Secretary of the La Habana Party Committee Luis Antonio Torres Iríbar led a high-level delegation of the La Habana Party Committee to pay a visit to Hanoi in the framework of their official visit to Vietnam from June 5th to June 15th. The event held significant importance as it demonstrated the strong bond and promoted exchange, sharing, and cooperation between the two sides. It followed the successful visit made by Mr. Roberto Morales Ojeda, Member of the Politburo, and Permanent Member of the Party Central Committee's Secretariat of the Communist Party of Cuba in May.
The Cuban delegation met with delegates from Hanoi city departments and divisions
Mr. Dinh Tien Dung had a meeting with the high-level delegation of the La Habana Party Committee. Both sides believed that this visit would contribute to further strengthening and deepening the traditional friendship, special solidarity, and close bond between the two countries and Capitals. Hanoi and La Habana desire to expand and further develop their comprehensive cooperation in various fields, including politics, foreign affairs, economy, trade, culture, education, healthcare, science and technology, agriculture, and particularly to enhance the sharing of experience in Party building work.
At the talks, the First Secretary of the La Habana Party Committee Luis Antonio Torres Iríbar expressed his admiration for the achievements that Vietnam, as well as Hanoi, had gained in recent times. He was pleased to note the development of the strong and consolidated relationship between the two Parties. He emphasized that regular exchanges at all levels and the special relationship between Vietnam and Cuba, which were established by President Ho Chi Minh and leader Fidel Castro, would become invaluable assets that the Parties, States, and people of both countries must strive to preserve, nurture, and pass on to future generations.
The signing ceremony of the Cooperation Agreement between the Hanoi Party Committee, Communist Party of Vietnam, and the La Habana Party Committee, Communist Party of Cuba for the period 2023-2028, as well as the signing of the Protocol of Agreement for the symbolic handover of 2,000 tons of rice as a gift from Hanoi to La Habana, took place in a solemn and warm atmosphere.
During their visit to Vietnam, the high-level delegation of the La Habana Municipal Party Committee paid tributes to the Cuban national hero José Martí at the Tao Dan Flower Garden in Hanoi. At the ceremony, the First Secretary of the La Habana Municipal Party Committee, Luis Antonio Torres Iríbar, sincerely expressed his gratitude to the Party Committee and the authorities of Hanoi for placing the monument of the great Cuban national hero in a prominent and central location of the Hanoi capital. José Martí was born in 1853 and sacrificed his life on May 19, 1895. His role in the Cuban revolution is often likened to that of President Ho Chi Minh in the Vietnamese revolution. The monument of the Cuban leader serves as a symbol of the special relationship between Vietnam and Cuba that inspires young generations of both countries, who will continue to foster, build, and develop the friendship between Vietnam and Cuba.
Visiting farm during the days in Hanoi
During their 10-day working visit to our country, the high-level delegation of the La Habana Municipal Party Committee had nearly 20 activities in 5 provinces and cities, including various activities in Hanoi. Here, they had an official meeting with the Party Central Committee's Standing Secretary Truong Thi Mai. They also paid visits to Me Linh district, where they investigated into the local socio-economic development model; to the Hanoi Oncology Hospital; and to the Mausoleum of President Ho Chi Minh. They laid a wreath at the Monument to the Fallen Heroes of Bac Son; visited the Thang Long Imperial Citadel, Ngoc Son Temple, and the Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam.
The visit to Vietnam by the high-level delegation from the Communist Party of Habana, led by the First Secretary of the Communist Party of Havana, Luis Antonio Torres Iríbar, ended in great success. It carried significant meaning and deepened the relationship between the two countries to lead to a more profound cooperation, which would achieve more tangible results. Additionally, it made a positive contribution to the joint efforts for peace, stability, cooperation, and development in both regions and the world.
