London, one of the world's top four financial centers, is ready to provide insights, technology, and regulatory recommendations for Hanoi's urban development.

This message was underlined during a meeting with Hanoi's Deputy Mayor Ha Minh Hai today [September 18] by Michael Mainelli, Lord Mayor of London, who is visiting Hanoi with a delegation of British businesses from various sectors.

At the meeting, the Deputy Mayor of Hanoi touched upon three important documents recently approved: the Capital Law, the Capital Planning Scheme for the period 2021-2030 with a vision to 2050, and the adjustment of the General Planning for the capital to 2045 with a vision to 2065.

"These are crucial guidelines for Hanoi to thrive as a digital finance center and create a circular economy while prioritizing science, technology, and high-quality human resources," Hai said.

He also briefed the guest on the city's plan to build a large-scale financial center in Dong Anh, aiming to transform the city into a global connectivity hub by 2045.

"I hope that London, as one of the world's top four financial centers, will share its experience and recommendations on the regulatory framework with Hanoi," Hai said, stressing the desire to cooperate with London in training high-quality human resources.

Lord Mayor Mainelli underlined London's willingness to support Hanoi in its journey to become a green and modern city in the region.

According to him, London shares similarities with Hanoi as an ancient city with many historic buildings that are striving to adapt to climate change and achieve greater sustainability.

"The UK capital is working to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and lower temperatures through a variety of measures, including thermal insulation coatings and urban tree planting. Digitizing data on historic buildings is also essential for conservation and restoration efforts," said Michael.

Therefore, London is eager to share its experience and cooperate with Hanoi in these areas, as well as other issues such as finance, urban rail, and education, the mayor reiterated.
