The opening ceremony of the 2022 book festival themed Truyen Thong va Hoi Nhap (Tradition and Integration), took place on October 7 in the pedestrian zone by Hoan Kiem (Sword) Lake.
The Hanoi Book Festival has returned for the bookworms in the capital city after a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The 7th Hanoi Book Festival 2022 is organised by the Hanoi’s Department of Information and Communications in collaboration with the Authority of Publication, Printing and Distribution under the direction of the municipal People’s Committee, the Ministry of Information and Communications and 5 ASEAN embassies in Hanoi. It is a part of the activities to celebrate the 68th anniversary of Hanoi Capital Liberation Day (October 10, 1954 - October 10, 2022), the 70th anniversary of the traditional day of Vietnam’s book publishing, printing and distribution sector (October 10, 1952 - 2022), and the 55 anniversary of the establishment of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (August 8, 1967-August 8, 2022).
Returning to Hanoi this year for three days, from October 7-9, the festival will include many new exciting events to attract participants. This year's Book Fair has many meaningful activities, of which the highlight is a book exhibition with the theme “70 years of Viet Nam's book publishing, printing and distribution industry”. The event also held a book exhibition with the theme “Thousand years of Thang Long civilization”, serving readers free of charge more than 200 books are research works of the bookcase “Thousand years of civilization Thang Long” of Ha Noi Publishing House.
On this occasion, the HAUFO in collaboration with the Hanoi Department of Information and Communications introduced information at the ASEAN booth to celebrate the 55th anniversary of the ASEAN establishment. Embassies of 5 countries including Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Philippines, and Thailand participated in the display of publications, books and newspapers introducing their countries, people, friendship, handicraft products, and traditional costumes. It helped readers and visitors have the opportunity to learn about the cultural characteristics of ASEAN countries.
