HAUFO ACTIVITIES
On the morning of September 29, at the Ba Kieu Temple area and around Hoan Kiem Lake, the HanoiMoi Newspaper, Department of Culture and Sports, and HAUFO jointly organized the finals of the 49th HanoiMoi Newspaper Run for Peace 2024 in celebration of the 70th anniversary of the Hanoi’s Liberation Day and the 25th anniversary of Hanoi being awarded the title “City for Peace” by UNESCO.
The finals attracted the participation of 2,500 runners joining in support and 1,000 official competitors from nearly 20 embassies, organizations, and international schools; more than 20 provincial, city, and industry units nationwide; universities and colleges, and 30 districts and townships of Hanoi.
In her opening remarks, Deputy Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Vũ Thu Hà emphasized that the 49th HanoiMoi Newspaper Run for Peace 2024 continues to affirm its status as one of the traditional athletic competitions in Vietnam, becoming a mass sports event with a strong impact.
The peace message delivered by Chairman of the HAUFO Nguyễn Ngọc Kỳ during the ceremony asserted that peace is always the aspiration of all progressive humanity in the world, serving as a solid foundation for sustainable and prosperous societal development. To ensure future generations live in love and happiness, let us join all progressive humanity in the world to pray for everlasting peace and spread the peace message across all continents.
Vietnamese and international delegates signed the Peace Flag together and ran to support the event. Domestic and international athletes competed enthusiastically, upholding a spirit of high sportsmanship and friendship.
With the spirit of joining hands to share the difficulties faced by compatriots affected by storms and floods, the program’s Organizing Committee donated VND 100 million to the City’s Relief Fund to the representative of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi.
Results for the public run category for foreign male athletes: First Place: Sachna Samuel Jacques Dray (UNIS School), Second: Michal Judiak (Slovak Embassy), Third: Chem Ly Hour (International Student Support Center); for the foreign female athletes: First: Bai Xue (Chinese Embassy), Second: Heidi Mooce (UNIS School), Third: Natalia Kornienko (Russian Federation Embassy).
